What We Do

The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including the development and support of curricular materials for the learning of Latin and other languages, as well as initiatives, research efforts, and public benefit programs that promote innovation and the bettering of learning outcomes for educators and students alike.

The specific objectives and purpose of this organization shall be:

  1. to develop and maintain a freely accessible collection of tiered readings for the purpose of helping learners of Latin grow their reading proficiency and bridge the gap to more challenging authentic texts;
  2. to develop and maintain a freely accessible game-based Latin curriculum, Operation LAPIS, as well as all related supplementary materials, including tasks, activities, and additional readings;
  3. to develop and maintain other learning games and to provide a method for educators and learners to access those games. This access may be via freely accessible digital print-and-play means, app-based solutions, or physical media which can be purchased to support the efforts of the The Pericles Group Foundation; and
  4. to further its charitable and educational purposes, the organization may provide educational consulting services to schools, school districts, institutions of higher education, and other educational organizations. Such services may include, but are not limited to, the design, evaluation, and implementation of proficiency-based grading and assessment systems, particularly in Latin and other language programs; instructional and curricular design emphasizing active, student-centered learning; professional development for educators; program evaluation; and related educational support services. All consulting activities shall be conducted in a manner consistent with the requirements of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and shall further the Corporation’s exempt purposes.
