The Tiered Readings collection is an open access repository of tiered (i.e. leveled) readings in Latin, that has expanded from its original intent to solely cover the AP syllabus to additional mythological, historical, and informational texts at the novice and intermediate levels, as well as the recent addition of novice level readers. You can read all about the approach to creating tiered readings by clicking on the article linked below.
Built into the functionality of the site, in order to facilitate a learner’s ability to read fluently, is the ability to collapse the various tiers to focus on your current level, instant definitions of words by double-click through the Alpheios plug in, roll-over tooltips for more nuanced explanations, on-page pop ups of links and other resources (modals), and other visual or audio support where appropriate. The cumulative effect of all of these features is that a learner’s eyes never leave the text, even with glosses and other explanations.
Lastly, the site is built as a responsive design, allowing it to easily resize and reformat to any screen size, from a phone to the largest of desktop monitors.
Additional Latin Resources
In addition to the tiered readings, there are a number of additional texts available to teachers and students alike. More texts will continue to be added over time, so be sure to check back often!
